Nintendo Wi – What Does Wii Stand For?
With the new Nintendo Wii gaining more and more populartiy all the time, more and more people are constantly asking “What does Wii stand for?” However, Wii does not stand for anything. It is not an acronym. The Nintendo Wii is much different than other gaming systems, because the console targets a much broader demographic than most other gaming systems do. Shigeru Miyamoto, one of the main designers of the system, explains that with this new system, Nintendo hoped to get people who do not usually play video games to play the Wii. They hoped to get families to have fun playing it together, and they wanted it to be fun even for old people.
In the beginning Nintendo was going to call their new video consule “Revolution”; because it was meant to revolutionize the gaming industry. However, they decided to change it to something friendlier and more unique, the Wii. But what does Wii stand for? The name Wii is a play on words and letters. Wii sounds like “We” and in this way suggest that you play on it with your family and friends. Instead of one fourteen year old boy shooting up enemy tanks all alone into the middle of the night. They hoped to make the Wii kind of like a bunch of friends going to the bowling alley.
Wii has two ii’s in it which should represent two people playing side by side. That is why when you turn the console on, the little I’s both take a bow. In my opinion the name is both easy to remember and cool, helping you to remember that you are playing an innovative, high tech Japanese game.
One thing only few Wii owners are aware of is the fact that you can play homebrew games on your Wii and also play absolutely every game from N64, SNES, and Sega Genesis. It is also possible to download ISO`s, DVDs, and Music. Unlocking your Wii for maximum entertainment is easy! For more information go to Unlock Wii
