Online gaming getting support from US Congressman

For a man who does not play “games of chance”, Barney Frank sure is an unlikely candidate in the effort to legalize online gambling and have people playing online slots.  Mr. Frank does not visit casinos (online or offline) and claims to never have pulled the handle on a slot machine.  So what drives the Newton-based Democratic Congressman so hard to champion a cause for which, apparently, he does not have much
“love”?  Why has the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee gone to the length of proposing new legislation that would legalize an industry that is under constant pressure from the US Department of Justice?

Mr. Frank is finding support among online gambling entertainment communities who have backed his efforts not only with words but with cold-hard cash as well.  A pitboss at the famed Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas has recently donated to his campaign, so has Chris Moneymaker, a famous professional poker player.

Industry figures show that, in the United States alone, the Internet online gambling industry accounts for $5.9 billion in annual revenues.  Nearly 8 million Americans place wagers online, according to a study done in 2005 by Christiansen Capital Advisors, a Maine-based research firm.  But the industry as a whole has been very controversial and come under constant criticism since it first appeared back in 1995.

A law dating back to the early 1960s prohibits the use of telephone lines to place bets.  The US Department of Justice has since that date relied on that law to defend its stance against the burgeoning industry despite the fact that the overwhelming majority of all gambling sites operate in offshore jurisdictions and do not need to meet US laws and regulations.

The signature by George Bush, in 2006, of a new law that prohibits banks and credit card companies from participating in transactions involving online gaming firms made it even more difficult to place bets online.  But businesses like lottery gambling, horse racing or fantasy sports were exempted from that same law.  One has to wonder about those strange exemptions.

In 2007, within a four-month period of time, Barney Frank introduced new legislation reversing George Bush’s ban and worked on setting up a regulatory body that would allow gamblers to play games like black jack on the Internet.

According to Frank, this is an issue of personal freedom.  Why does the government need to intervene in people’s personal decisions?  If, in the privacy of their own home, people want to play roulette, why would they not be allowed to do so?

While it is still to early to tell what the outcome of Mr. Frank’s efforts will be, it does seem that such efforts are picking up steam and are slowly garnering support from both sides of the political spectrum. If legalized, online gambling would represent billions of dollars in new tax revenue for the US government.

Dice it up: author Frank Scoblete unveils his secrets of the “craps” trade…

Online casino players know that there are always a wide variety of games available online for them to enjoy. This includes the traditional table games, such as blackjack, pai gow, various poker games, craps and roulette, as well as a wide variety of slots. Craps is one of the faster paced games that casinos offer and has become the most popular game in history when considering money wagered.

Regular craps players will often comment that craps is a game that they will play forever but never master. This take on craps is attributed to the fact that many believe that lady luck is the ultimate decision maker in this fast paced dice game. However, there are a few individuals who believe otherwise – and have the winnings to prove it.

Author and gaming guru, Frank Scoblete, has recently released a DVD titled “Golden Touch: Beat Craps by Controlling the Dice”. On his website, Scoblete discusses how he has learned his techniques from a man that he believes to be the best of the best, the Captain, king of the craps tables and offers us excellent insight on the best craps betting strategy.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Captain or his past successes, this is a man who had reportedly won somewhere in the general vicinity of $12 million dollars during a period of about 25 years. He ran with a crew of 22 other phenomenal casino craps players but he was considered the leader of the group.

Evidently, he has disclosed his secrets to Scoblete, who has taken the time to master these techniques of dice control enough to at least develop an intricate DVD that features controlled throws of the dice, completely unedited.

Since craps is really a game that is dependent upon the shooter, then the shooter has some form of control over the ultimate outcome. Obviously, if the shooter just randomly throws the dice each time, there will be no clue as to how or where they will fall. However, if the shooter is a more methodical thrower, this person may actually be able to up the odds for the players.

Just like the regulars mentioned above, the Captain and Scoblete believe that you cannot win at craps by simply using some type of betting system because the game is much too random for that. That is, unless, of course, the dice can be controlled to some degree. With practice, they can be. So, to all of you craps shooters out there, remember, practice makes perfect!  So it’s time to fine-tune your craps bets.

Slot machines: Online Gold or Grief?

For those of us that enjoy gambling as a form of entertainment, there is always going to be that element of wonder lingering somewhere in our mind. Gambling should be used as entertainment, not as your job. Lady luck is not a dividend of sweat. However, there are individuals who have truly “struck it rich” playing the slots because they simply know quite abit about casino slots. There are true strategies involved.

One man, 25 years of age, hit the largest jackpot ever won at any casino in Las Vegas; a whopping 39.7 million dollars. But there are many more lucky Las Vegas winners out there, just not quite that lucky.

Mr. Elmer Sherwin at age 92, he hit the Megabucks jackpot – for the second time. His second jackpot of $21 million truly crushed his first jackpot of $4.6 million. His shared his winnings in a wonderful way. That year, Hurricane Katrina had devastated thousands of families and Mr. Sherwin decided to pledge some of his winnings to help the victims. Maybe his giving heart has something to do with the reason that lady luck has favored him, but maybe he was just in the right place at the right time and knows how to win at slots.

Big progressive slots do offer massive jackpots, but many believe that it is easier to win on an offline slot machine, in other words on casino slots.  This could be true, but I haven’t studied the statistics of it all to point you positively in one way or the other~This could be true, but I haven’t seen any stats to support it. What is true is that the giant jackpot cannot be won unless you play the machine and wager the maximum bet. For some progressives, the max bet is $3, for others it is $5, but I have seen the max bet for some high stakes progressive slots at $75. The jackpots for these machines, if won, could certainly take care of your retirement.

So the truth is that some of these money slots can pay out exorbitant jackpots; allowing you to truly “strike it rich”, if you can manage to win one. Some of us will be lucky and others will be left wishing for lady luck to grant them a jackpot, but almost everyone has fun while they play. Isn’t dreaming of that big jackpot one of the main reasons that we choose to gamble in the
first place?
